Project Expert assistance on building up of regular state of environment reporting according to the EEA Core Set of Indicators for West Balkan countries - development of indicators of key groups (Core Set of Indicators-CSI) to the EEA methodology for the Republic of Croatia
According to the requirements of the project "Expert assistance on building up of regular state of environment reporting according to the EEA Core Set of Indicators for West Balkan countries", Croatian Environment Agency in cooperation with the European Environment Agency (EEA) and UNEP - GRID Arendal joined in development of Core Set of Indicators (CSI), on the national level.
Using official and available data of the Republic of Croatia, till january 2009. 15 CSI were made in accordance to the methodology of the EEA .
In the second phase of the project, Agency in cooperation with relevant collaborative institutions in the Republic of Croatia, conducted the audit of CSI that UNEP GRID-Arendal made for the Western Balkan region. Regional CSI were developed based on national CSI submitted by the countries that were involved in the project (R Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia-R) as well as based on data and information available through the database (EUROSTAT, Waterbase, IEA, CLC, UNSTAT, etc.).
The project was implemented in order to prepare the basis for drafting the next report EEA: Pan-European report - Europe's environment (the fifth assessment) and The European Environment - State and Outlook 2010 .
In the framework of project, following indicators were made:
CSI 001 - Emissions of acidifying substances
CSI 006 - Production and consumption of ozone depleting substances
CSI 008 - Designated areas
CSI 011 - Greenhouse gas emissions projections
CSI 018 - Use of freshwater resources
CSI 022 - Bathing water quality
CSI 026 - Area under organic farming
CSI 027 - Final energy consumption by sectors
CSI 028 - Total primary energy consumption
CSI 029 - Primary energy consumption by fuel
CSI 030 - Renewable primary energy consumption
CSI 031 - Renewable electricity consumption
CSI 035 - Passenger transport demand
CSI 036 - Freight transport demand
